Connecting Your Association's Website to your Facebook Page:
If your association has a Facebook Page, you can connect the page to your association's website for the purpose of sharing announcements and event postings from your website to Facebook.
Here's how to connect your Facebook Page to your association's website:
Step 1: From the Moderator Control Panel, click the 'Settings' tab:
Step 2: At the bottom of the Settings section, under 'External Content Sharing' click 'Connect Your Facebook Page':
Step 3: If you are not already logged into Facebook, you will need to login to your personal Facebook account to be recognized as an Admin of your association's Facebook Page. Once logged in, follow the prompts to choose the proper Facebook Page to connect to your association's website.
Once connected, you will have the ability to share announcement and event postings from your association's website to Facebook (this option is located within the Promotion section of each announcement & event manager):
The Result is a nicely branded Facebook post with links back to your association's website!
Please Note: there are 3 requirements for this connection to work properly:
- You must be an Admin of your Facebook Page (vs. another Facebook Page role, such as Moderator or Editor)
- You must be logged into your Facebook account
- Your association must have a Facebook Page vs. a Facebook Group (please see more information below)
Unfortunately, our Facebook configuration tool only works for Facebook Pages vs. Facebook Groups.
If your association has a Facebook Group, you can still copy/paste the URL from your announcement/event postings into your Facebook posts for a similar effect.
Here’s an article discussing the differences between Facebook Pages and Groups: https://www.facebook.com/notes/facebook/facebook-tips-whats-the-difference-between-a-facebook-page-and-group/324706977130/
Why did our Facebook Page get disconnected?
Typically, the Facebook configuration fails when either of the two occur:
1) the moderator that made the connection (who, by Facebook's requirements, must also be an 'Admin' of the Facebook Page vs. another Page Role, like 'Editor' or 'Moderator') is completely removed as an Admin or has been changed to a different Facebook Page Role, OR
2) the moderator who connected the Facebook Page is indeed still an Admin of the Facebook Page however they have changed their Facebook password. For security purposes, this will disconnect external integrations through that user's account
A moderator from your team who is also an Admin of the FB Page can easily reconnect to your Facebook Page via the instructions above.
